How it works
From photos to a returned, documented piece
Grading comes first, so every restoration decision is based on a written assessment of the item. You approve the quote before anything ships and before any extra bench work.

Send photos
Email clear photos of the piece: front, back, base, corners, interior stamp or serial, hardware. For watches: dial, caseback, clasp and any papers.

Quote and first read
Within one business day we reply with a written quote, a provisional condition read and the turnaround. Nothing is booked until you approve.

Insured mail-in
Once you approve, we email shipping instructions. Pack the item in its dust bag or box; we log and photograph it on arrival.

Authenticate and grade
Two specialists examine stitching, heat stamps, date codes, hardware engravings, or for watches the movement, reference and serial. You receive a numbered report with a grade.

Restore, with your sign-off
If you ordered care work, we confirm the plan against the grade. Any extra work found on the bench is quoted by email first.

Return and aftercare
Insured, signature-required return shipping, before-and-after photos, and written care notes. Restoration is covered by our workmanship warranty.

Five grades, described in plain terms
Every report states one grade and lists the exact flaws behind it, with photos, so a buyer or consignment shop can read the same thing you do.
- Pristine
- Unused or carried once. Protective films may remain, no marks on leather, canvas or hardware.
- Excellent
- Light signs of use visible only up close: faint hairlines on hardware, no corner wear, interior clean.
- Very Good
- Light corner rub, minor creasing on leather, slight darkening of handles or light oxidation on hardware.
- Good
- Visible surface scratches, handle darkening, corner wear and marks on the interior lining. Structurally sound.
- Fair
- Heavy wear: stains, cracked edge paint, loose stitching or worn corners. Usually a candidate for restoration.

Will the brand accept your certificate?
CloutCraft is an independent service and is not affiliated with any brand. Brands are not bound by third-party opinions and may not recognise our reports. Resale buyers, consignment shops and payment-dispute teams commonly accept a written independent opinion.
How long does it take?
Photo authentication: 2 business days, or 24 hours with rush. In-hand grading: 5 to 7 business days after arrival. Handbag restoration: 2 to 4 weeks. Watch servicing: 3 to 5 weeks, longer if parts must be sourced.
How do I ship a bag or watch to you?
Send photos first. After you approve the quote, we email packing and shipping instructions for an insured, tracked shipment. We do not accept unannounced drop-offs.
Will you polish my vintage watch?
No, unless you request it in writing. Polishing removes metal and can lower collector value, so our default is a movement service, gasket change and pressure test with the case left as found.
Is there anything you will not take?
Items we judge counterfeit are not restored, only reported. We do not restore exotic skins such as crocodile or alligator, though we can still authenticate them. Bags with torn handles or exposed piping are quoted case by case.
What if I am not happy with the result?
Tell us within 14 days of delivery with photos. We review the work and, where it falls short of the agreed plan, correct it at no charge. See our Refund Policy for details.
